About

photo Sian

It is difficult to work out how to use your skills, experience and passions to make a difference in the world. I should know - during my career I have worked in massive organisations, like the BBC, and tiny ones. I have been a Chief Exec, a middle manager and done the coffee runs. I have worked as a grant maker and as a grant recipient. I have worked in business, in the public and in the charity sectors. Twenty years into my career I have worked out that I love nothing more than hearing people's stories and supporting them to achieve as much as they possibly can. I hope to meet you and to hear about what you are trying to achieve!

My approach is to coach only a small number of clients at any time. The rest of the time I am working for, and setting up social enterprises. I am empowering and empathetic; supportive but also willing to challenge. The majority, but by no means all, of my clients are amazing leaders working in, or aiming to work in, social enterprises or charities. I have worked with CEOs making seemingly impossible decisions; with social entrepreneurs struggling with burnout; with charities seeking to diversify their income; and with recent graduates planning their next steps, to name but a few.

Testimonials

Nicole Phillips

Intern
– Clean Choice Energy –

"As a young professional entering the sustainability space, it can be difficult to figure out where I want to be and where I fit in the field. Sian was able to get to know me, understand me, and help me figure out what I'm looking for in a job in a little over an hour. She is patient, kind, understanding and incredibly knowledgeable. Her background and tenure in the field helped give excellent insight to different companies I am considering. Thank you Sian, for your gracious advice and words of wisdom!" .

I really enjoyed working with Sian. She had a good understanding of the professional world (the voluntary sector) I'm operating in which wasn't essential but helped. Our sessions gave me new insights into issues I was grappling with and she used specific tools to help me clarify the direction of travel I should go in. I found Sian's approach very empowering and supportive and she was able to summarise issues I presented well.

Sian is an inspirational coach who operates with compassion and pragmatism. I appreciated her energetic and innovative approach that mixed advice with gentle self-reflection (without any annoying wish-washy techniques). Her practical exercises and deep understanding of social business helped improve my understanding of the restrictors in my work and empowered me to create, and act on, achievable, constructive goals. Working with Sian has been motivational, rewarding, impactful and a real pleasure to boot.
